The Tempe Police Dept has identified a burglary trend involving residential homes south of U.S. 60 between Feb 6th and April 2nd.

There have been 10 burglaries, predominately in the area between US 60- Baseline and from Mill-Rural, three of the burglaries have occurred in the Lakes Community between Rural – Lakeshore and Southshore – Guadalupe.

The time frame has been weekdays between 11:00 am to 2:pm

The suspects are believed to be school age teens 14-18 years of age.

The suspects turn off the power by switching off the outside breakers and then use a rock or similar object they find in the yard to break a rear window. Once inside the suspects have been taking Jewelry, coins, and small items. The suspects also damage and ransack all rooms in the home.

Tips;

·         Keep your rear and side gates locked at all times, this a common entry way for all burglaries

·         Place a lock on your power box to prevent tampering

·         Keep a look out for teenagers loitering in the neighborhood during school times and report suspicious activity.

·         Use a safe, the safe must be secured to the floor so it cannot be carried a away.

·         Photograph jewelry and document serial numbers to electronics.

·         If you have an alarm, make sure it has back up power
