City of Tempe Changes – Bulk Trash Schedule

By now you have all probably received a notice on your door about Tempe’s changes to the bulk trash pickup.  The city is changing from a monthly scheduled pickup to an every other month pickup.  The city is also changing the type of waste being picked up in those months.  It has been defined down to (2) categories.

1. Green Waste (4 Pickups Per Year) – Vegetation: Tree trimmings, and brush (tree limbs, branches, trunks and stumps) must be cut into four-foot lengths or shorter and less than 19 inches in diameter.  Leaves, cactus and hedge clippings are acceptable when placed in a cardboard box.  NO oleanders, palm fonds, grass, weeds, or bagged items, as they don’t compost well.
2. Mixed Waste(2 Pickups Per Year)- Those materials that cannot be placed in your black/green garbage container or recycled in your blue recycled container: Furniture, non-Freon appliances, such as washers and microwaves, and other items too large to fit int eh trash bin.  Oleanders, palm fonds, bagged grass and weeds, other bagged items and green waste.

The goal if this program is to compost the Green Waste and reduce costs for monthly large pickup in Tempe.  The new schedule takes effect in August 2013 with a Green Waste pickup.  If you have any further questions or concerns regarding these changes you may visit Tempe’s website at www.tempe.gov/slashthetrash or call the City of Tempe at 480.350.4311

Oasis Monthly Homeowners Meetings

Just a friendly reminder that The Oasis Homeowners board has monthly meetings conducted at Kinney Management offices on the 3rd Thursdays of the month at 6:00PM.  Homeowners are welcome to attend and voice any opinions in the “Open Discussion” section of the meeting.  You may reference the Archives section to read up on any community minutes from these meetings.

Community Updates / Changes

• You may have seen markings on some concrete slabs throughout the greenbelt around the lake.  These have been marked to either be smoothed out for safer walking or replaced to make the greenbelt safer for the residents.  As the trees mature the roots move under and change the appearance of those slabs so out of routine maintenance we will make sure they stay safe.
• Plans are being drawn up to add an addition to the pump house by the lake.  We will be storing basic lake tools and the small boat needed to repair the pumps on the lake.  We will send more info as the project comes to fruition.
• The new website is obviously now live and should be a new fresh resource for resident communication.  Please encourage your neighbors to register their e-mails in order to stay up to date with community information.
• The community continues to build the reserve account and stay ahead of future needs.
