Oasis Residents,
We are almost finished with yet another year! Time sure does fly by. This has been a very productive year for the board with lots on the agenda. Your current board has spent many hours trying to ensure the proper growth and care of this community so please make sure to reach out to them and give them your thanks this Holiday Season for the thankless Board positions they have been appointed too. With the extra hard work this Board has made some major strides in the future of our community. Proper planning, budgeting, and monitoring will greatly midigate our exposure to loss or unplanned repairs. With our community reaching 20+ years this is needed more now than ever to avoid speed bumps in the road ahead. There has been a lot of activity next door on the Discovery Park campus but most of the projects that are facing the Oasis community will be completed by Q1 2015 as the remaining projects will take place on the other end of their campus. With that being said we hope you all have a safe, happy, and fun Holiday Season with your family and friends!
During the holidays, the potential for thefts and robberies increase. More people are out and about, and they are carrying more gifts and money than during other times of the year. While there’s no need to be afraid, you should keep in mind the following holiday safety reminders:
To report suspicious activity in Tempe, call us at 480-350-8311
For emergencies, call 911
The Tempe Police Department also has an app if you search for “Tempe Police” in the AppStore or Android Store. I have downloaded it myself and along with he Tempe 311 app for submitting issues to the City of Tempe it is a great way to monitor emergency issues in the area. A sample of the dashboard is listed to the right from my phone…
The board is testing a few methods in the community to define what the best long term avenue would be for maintaining and managing the block walls. There are many spots in the community where the walls are discolored from sun, water, repairs, and mismatched paint jobs. We are testing patch methods, replace methods with paint, and replace methods with colored block that is a close match to existing. Once we have all of these test areas complete we will be assessing how to proceed from a larger scale neighborhood approach.
As discussed earlier we are working to possibly change our lake management contract to a new company that is based out of Tempe and would start giving us more of a database of data for monitoring the lake in a way that allows for future budgeting while hopefully mitigating large scale surprises further on down the road for the community. This includes monitoring sediment levels, chemical levels, and overall condition of the lake walls and lake itself to be more plan-full of future needs.
We have also revisited our current insurance coverage within the community to make sure our policies are directly aligned with the needs of the community. This approach also helps us mitigate future risk to the community and homeowners. Having the right property and people insured for the correct limits will make a big difference if anything happens down the road.
On the agenda for 2015 still includes a more serious look at the landscape throughout the community meaning plotting trees, understanding landscape rotation schedules and getting a consistent system in place that aligns with the budget. Now that we are a mature community with 20+ year old trees and landscape we have to be more conscious of a forward thinking plan to make sure we prevent damage by being proactive in certain situations and developing a routine and schedule with our vendors can help achieve those goals for our community.
We hope everyone has a great Holiday Season and we look forward to a great 2015!
Thanks,
Jake Ulrich

You’ve probably already thought about this but I thought I would add an observation. Someone recently repaired and repainted the outside wall at the corner of Todd and Anozira. I love the color. If we use one standard color for all our walls after repair, it seems that would hold down the cost and make the walls fairly attractive. We could also use the color to paint the new wall between us and Shutter-Fly that is now gray. You may have other plans but the gray is not attractive.
Thanks for your input Mike! We will take that into consideration.
Jake,
Just want to give you this well deserved compliment on the website and all the information it provides to the residents in our community. I know it takes a great deal of your time and it is greatly appreciated. Everyone please encourage your neighbors to sign up and also communicate with the board on any issues’s they may see in the development! As we try to keep on eye and maintain our beautiful community we always welcome the extra eyes and ears.
Thank you and wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and many Blessings in 2015!
Sincerely,
Diane Petteruti
Thank you Diane and to all of the Board that works hard, Thank You!
